Mass Effect 2 (PS3) Review

Mass Effect 2 is a science-fiction RPG action game developed by BioWares for Electronic Arts. The game has been a hit since it was released, selling over two millions copies in the first week of it being released.

The game was originally released in January 2010 on the following platforms; PC and Xbox 360 and is scheduled for release on the PS3 platform on the 21th of January 2011 in Europe.

Mass Effect 2 will be backward compatible with the first version of the game as it will possible for gamers to carry over there characters from Mass Effect 1 provided they hang on to their "Mass Effect 1 save-files". Players can then decide on which files they want to import into Mass Effect 2.

The game's story line carry on from its prequel. Two years on after Commander Shepard was killed by the Collectors, Shepard is revived by an organisation called the Cerberus and is tasked with discovering why the Collectors are kidnapping the entire human race.

Mass Effect 2 features some new weapons and improvements like a better visual experience while still retaining some of the original elements and locations used in Mass Effect 1 . Some of the other improvements are :
  • Introduction of Ammunition System based on thermal clips.
  • Introduction of Heavy weapons that require powered cells.
  • Removal of Weapons skills from Mass Effect 1 (players are now able to use any weapon they are trained for).

Also Mass Effect 2 now features nineteen different types of weapons all divided in to 6 groups.

If you have never played Mass Effect before Mass Effect 2 starts up a new character for you and brings you up to speed with the events that has taken place so far in the series.

Mass Effect 2 is quite an awesome game when compared to other like-minded games today. With it's brilliantly executed gameplay you are bound to enjoy this latest sequel. However as you enjoy your gameplay be careful as the decisions you make in your gameplay may affect you in the next series of the game.
